As remix singles go, very few producers show up as often as Killing Joke alum Youth, who handles both mixes on this single. In both versions of his "R-Evolution 23" mix, Mike Patton's soaring voice stands out over Youth's keyboard track. The "Sundown Mix" is another interesting variation on the original track. But when both mixes are compared to the original "A Small Victory," the flaws in making such a great rock song into a dance track becomes glaringly apparent. Youth is a very talented producer, but the last thing Faith No More needed at this point in their career was pointless dance mixes of singles that were not succeeding anyway. Even fans of both the band and the producer will probably be disappointed by this meeting of two differing creative forces. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
