Devo was one of the first rock bands to explore the use of imaginative video clips as a marketing tool, and released one of the first homevideo's comprised solely of clips - 1979's The Men Who Make the Music (reissued in '89). Including early live performances, full-length promo vids for songs, and absurd shorts, T.M.W.M.T.M. is an enjoyable and humorous collection. While several clips were included again on the future homevideo We're All Devo, many are unavailable elsewhere, such as the rarely seen clips for "Come Back Jonee" and "Secret Agent Man" (the latter is much slower than the version that appeared on Duty Now for the Future). "Satisfaction" went on to become a favorite of MTV when the network first went on the air, while live performances of "Wiggly World," "Praying Hands," "Uncontrollable Urge," "Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA," and "Red Eye Express" perfectly capture Devo's nutty stage presence. Although We're All Devo is the band's quintessential homevideo release, The Men Who Make the Music is not far behind, and remains one of the most groundbreaking video releases ever. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
