All Music Guide Review

A fine if thus far little-known pianist, Laura Caviani is heard in top form on this swinging hard bop set. Caviani uses several of singer Karrin Allyson's sidemen (bassist Bob Bowman, drummer Todd Strait, and either Rod Fleeman or Danny Embrey on guitar), and Allyson herself sings on a pair of Caviani's originals ("The Bottom Line" and "Past Regrets"). Caviani contributed five of the 11 songs and swings hard on Bobby Timmons' "Moanin'" and "Well You Needn't." This is a fine all-round effort by the promising pianist. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
