    All Music Guide Review

Another offshoot of Time Life's Sounds of the Eighties series, each volume of The Rolling Stone Collection covers a couple years of the decade and rounds up selections that are geared toward the tastes of the average Rolling Stone reader. The discs stray from the mainstream concentration of the mother series and blend college radio favorites with the kind of artists favored by the magazine's old guard. The 1986-1987 volume features New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle," the Psychedelic Furs' "Pretty in Pink," Steve Winwood's "Higher Love," the Beastie Boys' "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)," and Robyn Hitchcock's "If You Were a Priest." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
