    All Music Guide Review

Punk University is a solid 12-track collection that covers a wide variety of punk and post-punk styles, from proto-punk and classic punk to hardcore and post-punk dance. Since it covers so much ground, it's not surprising that the album doesn't quite gel into a cohesive listening experience, but that doesn't make it a bad record by any means. Instead, it's an excellent sampler, featuring such classics as the Buzzcocks' "Orgasm Addict," the Ramones' "Beat on the Brat," X's "Los Angeles," Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life," Killing Joke's "Eighties" and Suicidal Tendencies' "Institutionalized," plus cult favorites from 999, the Vandals, the Adolescents, the Circle Jerks, Redd Kross and Fear. For a brief overview of the genre, it's not bad at all. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
