    With The Very Best of After Hours, Instinct Records repurposed its relatively deep catalog of '90s electronica -- heavy on the ambient-techno, trip-hop, and illbient -- to catch the wave of downbeat music making a splash during 2002. Despite the cheeky marketing concept, the two-disc set hits a few good highs -- earthy hip-hop (from DJ Krush and Kosma), electro-jazz fusion (from Jimpster, United Future Organization, disJam), and the laid-back side of techno (from Futique, Yennah, Mr. Electric Triangle). ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
