    All Music Guide Review

Rap's Greatest Stories is a budget-priced compilation that contains nine narratives from '80s hip-hop artists. Some of these songs aren't really stories -- why include the Beastie Boys' "Brass Monkey" and not "Paul Revere," which actually tells a story? -- but it's a pretty enjoyable listen, thanks to such cuts as Ice Cube's "Gangsta's Fairytale," Slick Rick's "Children's Story," Biz Markie's "The Vapors," Kool Moe Dee's "Go See the Dotor" and DJ Jazzy Jeff's "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
