Bad Religion

It's a minor drag that one always has to buy a slew of German imports to get all the non-LP Bad Religion B-sides, but they've often been hot, too. This time there's two tacked on to the German version of The New America LP (this is a digipack with totally different artwork). Right after the awesome "Don't Sell Me Short," tracks 14 and 15 are outtakes from the Todd Rundgren-produced album sessions, so they fit in perfectly. "The Fast Life" is a trademark fast cruncher with an equally trademark, explosive harmony from Greg Graffin and a busload of other voices. Then "Queen of the 21st Century" is more of a mid-tempo (with ringing guitar) slugger with Bobby Schayer punishing his floor tom, and another sing-along harmony that builds, wonderfully, on the extended coda. ~ Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover, All Music Guide
