    Boy George Faces Visa Problems

    Tue, 24 Jun 2008 16:57:13

His first tour in forever may be canceled

U.S. authorities have refused to grant Boy George a visa, citing a pending court case overseas. (A 28-year-old male Norweigan escort accused him of false imprisonment and assault last year, a claim George completely denies.)

"This is not in respect of anything he has done in the past but because he is facing a trial in November in London for something that happened in April last year," George's management team said in a statement. "George's lawyers in London have absolutely forbidden us to speak about the facts of that case and all I can say is that George is astounded at the decision and is having lawyers here in the States look at it in the hope that someone will change their mind. George really would love to come to America and repay his American fans loyalty and that is why we are asking the US Authorities to reconsider their decision."

The former Culture Club frontman has played sporadic DJ dates over the past decade—namely a North American Essential Mix tour in 2001—but he hasn't performed a solo stateside set since the '90s. The singer's summer tour includes 24 dates and will start on July 11 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas if matters get cleared up in time.
