Steven Sebring's directorial debut, Patti Smith: Dream of Life, has been picked up by Palm Pictures and set for a September release. New York City's Film Forum theatre will also host advance screenings from August 6-19. Sebring's companion book of unreleased photos, transcripts and more is planned for August.
Early Dream of Life reviews have been universally positive, with Premiere calling it a "spellbinder" and Reuters saying, "Experimental camera work and editing makes for a fittingly unconventional portrait of one of the pioneers of punk music."
In other Smith news, her double CD of Coral Sea performances with Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine is due out on July 11 through PASK, the duo's new label.
