Christopher Ciccone—you know, Madonna's brother—has been revealed as the mystery author of a memoir Simon & Schuster has been shilling under a "blind" order policy. William Morrow tried the same approach with a Princess Diana book (written by her former butler, Paul Burrell) in 2006. When it sold poorly, retailers complained because Burrell had already written a book about the British icon.
According to the Associated Press, Ciccone's book will be out in mid-July and feature an initial run of 350,000 copies. That is, if the Material Girl doesn't halt its release through legal action. E! Online reports that the singer is non-too happy about the tell all and may meet with her lawyers in London to discuss ways to prevent its publication.
