Joaquin Phoenix Cuts LP With Charlatans UK Singer

    Thu, 15 May 2008 12:51:12

He's steering clear of Johnny Cash covers, though

Learning how to sing like Johnny Cash has apparently led Joaquin Phoenix into a recording studio with Charlatans UK frontman Tim Burgess and former Creation Records owner Alan McGee.

"Once he learned guitar (for the Cash biopic, Walk the Line), he found that he had quite a lot of demons inside himself that he wanted to expel through music," Burgess told Billboard.com. "All the tracks that me and Alan worked with him on were brilliant, but I think he just keeps scrapping everything or redoing everything. I'm sad to say that I think it's one of those records that may never come out, to be honest with you."

Phoenix's Walk the Line role earned him an Academy Award nomination. His next film, Two Lovers, is due out later this year.
