    Based in Long Beach, California, the fairly obscure Rhino 39 formed in the early 1970s in the wake of such bands as the MC5 and the Stooges, never quite gathering sufficient backing to break out of the local circuit, despite a 1975 deal with Triple X Records that resulted in their self-titled debut (and final) release in 1975.
